The LDK license should always be installed only on the intended PC hardware which the RIP will be run from as once activated the Product Key cannot be activated again on another PC. And on the activated PC an LDK soft-lock or VM-lock is programmed to allow a set number of activations, normally one. However LDK License can be transferred from a Source PC on which the RIP is currently running, to a Target PC.


This document explains how you can re-host a license, to transfer it to another machine using the LDK Tool.


IMPORTANT

This procedure will require operation on the Source PC and the Target PC. The Source PC is the computer which the RIP is currently running on. The Target PC is the computer which the RIP will be moved to.


Start the Transfer from the Target PC


The following steps are to be carried out on the Target PC- the computer which the RIP will be moved to.


  1. Install the RIP onto the new machine (Target PC).
  2. On Target PC, in the folder where the RIP is installed, go to the sub-folder -


\ldk\utils


and double-click the application LDKTool.exe. The Main window will be prompted.



  1. Click the button More to show more options.



  1. Click the button Transfer License.



  1. Now click the button Transfer to this computer. You will now be guided to create a C2V file which will be needed on Source PC for the transfer.



  1. Click the button Create. You will be prompted to save a C2V file named -


<machine name>.recipient.c2v



  1. Click the button Save to save the file at an appropriate location, such as Desktop.



  1. A dialog will be prompted to inform you that the C2V file is saved, click OK to continue.


You will then be prompted to copy the C2V file to Target PC.



Click OK to continue. Copy the C2V file to Source PC.


You will be asked to locate the H2H file.



You should leave the dialog opened, and switch to Source PC.


  Continue the Transfer on the Source PC


The following steps are to be carried out on the Source PC - the computer which the RIP is currently running on.


  1. On Source PC (on which the RIP is currently running), in the folder where the RIP is installed, go to the subfolder -


\ldk\utils


and double-click the application LDKTool.exe. The Main window will be prompted.



  1. Click the button More.



  1. Click the button Transfer License. Note: Sentinel LDK License Manager service must be running on the Source PC. If not you will be prompt to manually start the service.



  1. Click the button Transfer from this computer.



One or more key IDs will be displayed in a drop‐down list in the Key ID field. Select the key ID you wish to transfer, and click Transfer. You will be prompted to select to C2V file copied from the Target PC.



Browse to the location where the C2V file is saved, and select the C2V file. Click the button Select to continue.


  1. You will be prompted to save an H2H file.



  1. Browse to a suitable location, such as the Desktop, and click Save to save the H2H file. You will then be prompted to copy the H2H file from Source PC to Target PC.



  1. Click OK to finish the transfer operation on Source PC.


Finishing the Transfer on the Target PC


The following steps are to be carried out on the Target PC - the computer which the RIP will be moved to.


  1. Return to the LDK Tool on the Target PC, which you left with the window prompting you to Locate the H2H file. Click the button Locate.



  1. You will be prompted to select the H2H file.



  1. Browse to the location on Target PC where the H2H file is located. Select the H2H file and click the button Select.
  2. If the H2H file is imported successfully, a window will be prompted telling you the key has been transferred successfully.



  1. You will be able to check the RIP Keys in the Target PC using the LDK Tool. Click the button Display Keys.



You will see the key installed on Target PC.



Click the button Done to exit the Display Keys window.
