If you are running Windows 8, 8.1, Windows Server 2012, 2012 R2, and have encountered the following symptoms -

  • You have a USB device connected to a USB port on the hub.
  • You safely remove the USB device from the USB port.
  • You reconnect the same USB device or a different USB device to the same USB port on the hub.
  • The computer does not detect the USB device.


This is a bug with those OS. Do a complete Windows Update, or if you are running Windows 8 or Windows Server 2012, get the hotfix from this page -
