Background Information

Express RIP v12 has changed the way it integrates with external workflow controller. New interface files must be placed in Express Workflow 3 for it to work with Express RIP v12. It is also necessary to install SOAR support for the Express RIP v12 as that is no longer installed by default. This is an interim solution to repair the interface between Express Workflow 3 and the Express RIP v12. An updated software install will be provided.


Installing SOAR support for Express RIP v12

You will need to install 3 types of files - 

  1. the SoarNX plugin is needed for the RIP to support the interface, 
  2. the RIP Start file to instruct the RIP to load the SOAR support files
  3. the OMNI Interface files that serves as an interface between the RIP and external workflow controller.



SOAR Plugin

The SoarNX plugin contains 2 files -

  • soarnx.i64
  • soarnx.map

You can find the 2 files in the sub-folder SoarNX plugin inside the SoarNX installer folder -

SOARNX\SoarNX plugin

The 2 files need to be placed in the soarnx folder. 

The soarnx folder itself needs to be placed inside the folder -

<RIP Installation Path>\SW\Extensions\PSDevice

For example, if you RIP is installed in -

C:\Compose\Express RIP

The soarnx folder should be placed in -

C:\Compose\Express RIP\SW\Extensions\PSDevice


RIP Start File

The RIP start file name is soarnxHqnExtraStart. 

You can find the start file in the sub-folder RIP start file inside the SoarNX installer folder -

SOARNX\RIP start file

This file should be put in -

<RIP Installation Path>\SW\Sys\ExtraStart

For example, if you RIP is installed in -

C:\Compose\Express RIP

The soarnx folder should be placed in -

C:\Compose\Express RIP\SW\Sys\ExtraStart


Omni Interface Files

There are 3 Omni Interface files -

  • omniDynamic414_vc12_rt.dll
  • omniORB414_vc12_rt.dll
  • omnithread34_vc12_rt.dll

You can find the Omni interface files in the sub-folder Omni interface files inside the SoarNX installer folder -

SOARNX\Omni interface files

These files should be placed in the RIP root folder. For example, if your RIPis installed in -

C:\Compose\Express RIP

The Omni Interface files should be placed in this same path.


Installing SOAR support for Express Workflow 3

Express Workflow 3 needs new Class Interface files to work with Express RIP v12.

The files are in the classes folder. There are a total of 9 files.

You can find the Class interface files in the classes folder inside EWF3 interface files inside the SoarNX installer folder -

SOARNX\EWF3 interface files

The classes folder should be placed in the folder -

<Express Workflow Installation Path>\EWF\

For example if Express Workflow 3 is installed at -

C:\Compose\Express Workflow 3

Then the classes folder should be placed in the folder -

C:\Compose\Express Workflow 3\EWF


Configuring Express Workflow 3 to work with Express RIP v12

The configuration to let Express Workflow 3 to work with Express RIP v12 is exactly the same as all previous RIP versions.
